A: Yes, Dance classes is only one of the many benefits offered to RBDC club members.

Q: Do I need a partner to take dance classes?

A: Not at all, many people join the club as singles and find dance partners at class.

Q: How difficult are the steps?

A: Dance instruction ranges from basic steps for the beginner to challenging routines for the advanced dancers. Instructors will help you select the best level for yourself.

Many students take each level more than once. This is recommended for Intermediate 1 and Intermediate 2. In the first year students will learn the steps. In the following years, more effort can be devoted to step precision, lead and follow, plus styling for those steps.

Q: Do I need any special clothing?

A: You should have leather soled shoes to dance in but dress is informal in class.

Q: Who teaches the classes?

A: Each class has a "Head Instructor" and "Instructor Assistants", who volunteer their time to teach. However, due to the nature of the advanced class, the instructor(s) is paid, as per a negotiated contract with the club.

The Instructor Group is made up of 3 parts:

1. Instructor Representative (elected by the Instructor Group to be a member of the executive)

2. Chief Instructor Group

3. Head Instructor and Instructor Assistants

Each year, the Chief Instructor group selects instructors from the instructor applications they receive from members of the dancing club. Once selected as an instructor, the Chief Instructor Group assigns them as either a Head Instructor or as an Instructor Assistant for the class and provide them professional training as required.
